Personal information provided as part of a representation on a planning consultation cannot be treated as confidential, as the Council is required to make representations available for public inspection. However in compliance with the Data Protection Act, the personal information you provide will only be used by the Council for the purposes of preparing the Council’s Local Plan and supporting documents. We will not pass on any personal information that you have given us to third parties for commercial use. If sharing information among officers and other agencies will help to improve the service you receive, then we may share information where the legal framework allows it. However, if you prefer that certain information about you is not shared within the Council, you can request that this does not happen. Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 (“the 1998 Act”) and good practice for the handling of personal data contained within that act.

Social media terms and conditions

Knowsley Council reserves the right to delete posts or comments from its social media sites without prior warning. This will be done when the Council considers the comment or post is in breach of the following conditions or is otherwise inappropriate:

  • Contributions must be civil and tasteful. They must not be defamatory, blasphemous, harassing, libellous, in breach of the 1998 Act, a breach of confidentiality or someone's privacy, contain obscenities or foul language.
  • Contributions must be constructive and polite, not mean-spirited or contributed with the intention of causing offence or trouble. Users who persistently post comments which are unrelated to the item being commented on may be blocked and their comments deleted.
  • Contributions must not prejudice any legal proceedings or be in breach of someone’s intellectual property rights impersonate anyone else or otherwise misrepresents your identity, affiliation or status;
  • Advertising or promotional postings will not be accepted, no political statements, campaigning or electioneering will be permitted.
The council reserves the right to block users who are in breach of these conditions or otherwise post inappropriate material without notice and at its absolute discretion. The council does not endorse any private company or individual even when the council is “friends” with or “follows” a profile or account on social media sites.

Online Consultations

All comments will be moderated before they are shown on the consultation site. Knowsley Council reserves the right to not show and comments or to delete comments from its consultation sites without prior warning. This will be done when the council believes the comment or post is in breach of the following conditions or is otherwise inappropriate:
